In December 2013, I and the nine-year-old and seven-year-old sons of our younger son had a couple of hours alone together in a vacation rental home near Disneyworld, while other family members were busy elsewhere. The boys wanted to spend our time together that day watching some of their favorite Superbook episodes on the DVDs that they had packed and taken with them on our family vacation. After the boys and I had watched a couple of episodes and were in the midst of singing the Salvation Song that concludes each episode, the older boy suddenly stopped singing, called to his younger brother by name, and asked him if he had ever prayed and asked Jesus to save him. When the younger one shook his head in the negative, his older brother said, “You need to do that. It’s important.” Without any further discussion, the younger boy got up from where he had been sitting on the floor watching the Bible-based Superbook stories, walked the few feet to the sofa, where I was sitting, and faced me, as he leaned up against me. After he confirmed to me that he wanted to pray right then, I said a few simple sentences that he repeated, one at a time, as I led him in a very simple prayer of salvation. Never could I have anticipated being so honored by God.
